Abstract

LIGHT - understanding how light works within the house was very interesting, as Gehry played with tension created by having open (well-lit) private areas and vice versa for instance the front kitchen, which is now an enclosed space of the new wrapping skin, and used to be the outside area of the simple pink wooden house. 

Part A: To See

After refining the drawings for the Gehry House, it is evident that there is more to see than meets the eye. 

This part a shows that there is much to be understood in a building and seeing a photographic or one drawing is simply not enough. The Gehry house has been explored via various drawings, such as floor plans, sections, elevations and also a physical model of part of the building, all of which show differing features of Gehry's design.

Drawing Gehry's house helped to clearly show the interesting features Gehry designed and its programmatic uses. For instance from these drawings the division between the old and new, also how the old house in enveloped by the new, thus the relationship Gehry experiments with can be better understood.
